For patients who may be immunocompromised, strict infection control is essential to ensure a safe, healthy environment for everyone involved. Red Oak Dentistry adheres to universal precautions and follows infection control protocols to protect patients and staff. When you entrust your dental care to our team, you can expect the highest standards of cleanliness, professionalism and transparency. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to discuss them openly with Dr. Michael King during a call.
Our Infection Control Measures
Our infection control measures align with guidelines from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). By following these standards, we maintain a clean, secure environment for all patients, especially those who may be more susceptible to infections. Our procedures include:
- Disinfectant Hand Soap – Hand hygiene is paramount, and we use specially formulated disinfectant hand soap to help control and eliminate germs.
- Protective Gloves and Face Masks – Our team consistently wears gloves and masks to prevent cross-contamination and reduce exposure risks for everyone.
- Surface Disinfection – Every surface, from countertops to patient chairs, is thoroughly disinfected using hospital-grade chemicals before each appointment.
- Sterilization of Equipment – All reusable equipment, including dental handpieces, undergoes rigorous sterilization through our advanced autoclave system.
- Use of Disposable Materials – To limit contamination, we use disposable items wherever possible, ensuring each patient’s visit is hygienic and safe.
Peace of Mind Through Transparency
Education and trust are vital in infection control. By understanding the procedures we implement, you can make informed decisions about your care. Our dentist and team are committed to maintaining a transparent approach, giving patients the opportunity to ask questions about any infection control measure. COVID-19 Precautions
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Dentistry is one of the only professions where patients are required to open their mouth, sometimes for extended periods of time! Therefore, our dentist and team wear N-95s for many of our patients who need it for health reasons or those who just feel more comfortable with us wearing N-95s.
Our new office was built during the pandemic so we had COVID precautions in mind when it was designed! Unlike most dental offices, Red Oak Dentistry has doors that we close during cleanings and treatment so patients have a more quiet and self-contained dental experience. Treatment is staggered between the rooms and high velocity air purifiers are constantly running in each treatment room and throughout the office to ensure patients and staff are breathing clean air. Additionally, all HVAC units have scientifically proven needlepoint bipolar ionization (NPBI) technology which further reduces viruses (including COVID-19), bacteria and other allergens without creating ozone.
Air Purification and Sanitization
To provide clean air, each treatment room has a high-velocity air purifier, refreshing the air every 12 minutes. Additionally, our HVAC system features needlepoint bipolar ionization (NPBI) technology, which reduces viruses (including COVID-19), bacteria and allergens without producing ozone. Patient rooms, instruments, waiting areas and high-touch surfaces are sanitized frequently to ensure a safe environment.
